TORONTO, Dec. 11, 2015 / Youth Science Canada and Spin Master are looking for Canada’s next great toy idea and game ideas! Youth in grade 7-12 (CÉGEP 1 & 2 in Québec) across Canada are invited to participate in the Canada-Wide Science Festival (CWSF) and Spin Master New Toy Competition. If you have a passion for innovating and creating new inventions, please submit your original toy or game ideas for a chance to take your idea to the next level.

The winner of the CWSF and Spin Master New Toy Competition will receive $2,500 in cash, a mentorship from Spin Master, and the potential of bringing their concept to development, with 4% royalty should their concept make it to the market. The winning concept will be chosen from 5 selected finalists, all of whom will have the opportunity to showcase their new toy or game ideas at the Canada-Wide Science Festival in Montreal, QC in May 2016.

“This competition provides a great opportunity to reach new youth exploring the intersection of innovation, science and fun,” says Brad McCabe, Executive Director at Youth Science Canada. “We want to encourage young Canadians to get hands-on in the development of new ideas. This initiative stimulates youth to develop important research, ideation, innovation, creative and communication skills in a very fun way.”

“Participation in the Spin Master New Toy Competition gives youth an entertaining, imaginative way to build life-long skills that will serve them for years to come,” said Michelle Kellner, Senior Director, Global Digital Marketing & Experiential at Spin Master. “We are excited to be partnering with the Canada-Wide Science Festival to showcase the creativity and innovativeness of our country’s young people.”
